The Wine Growers of the Grand River Valley

The Wine Growers of the Grand River Valley is a group of 7 unique wineries all sharing the same goal, to educate the local wine consumer on the magnificent wines that can be produced in the cool climate growing region known as the Grand River Valley.

The sloping valleys and natural landscape of the Grand River Valley all play a major role in the agricultural success of the many grape varietals in this region.  The landscape, climate, rich soil, and innovative wine making techniques are truly what make this region appealing to all who visit.

The Ferrante Family has been producing nationally and internationally acclaimed wines since 1937, when they opened their first winery in Cleveland’s Collinwood area. In the 1970’s Peter Ferrante built a state of the art winemaking facility in the family’s Harpersfield Township vineyard. In November of 1994 a devastating fire destroyed the winery, forcing the Ferrante family to rebuild.

For over 100 years, the Debevc family has grown grapes and made “Grand River Valley” wines from their vineyard estate. In 1916, Anton Debevc purchased the vineyard farm that would later become Debonne Vineyards. Anton’s son, the late Tony Sr., assisted his father in an expansion of the vineyards during the late 1940s, but it wasn’t until 1971 when Tony Sr. and his son, Tony, began the journey as commercial winemakers. Debonne Vineyards was founded the following year with construction of a modern winemaking facility and charming Chalet. The little winery established in 1972 has grown to Ohio’s largest estate winery.

Debonne now offers a diverse selection of nearly 50 wines from their Grand River Valley vineyards, earning many national and international awards over the years. The winery is open year-round with a casual food menu and live entertainment. An extensive outdoor patio area is available in warmer months. Debonne Vineyards is also now home to Double Wing Brewing Co., offering craft beer made onsite.

Grand River Cellars Winery & Restaurant prides itself in the quality wines they serve from the Grand River Valley Wine Region.  Supporting local is important to the winery so you will find a selection of local beers on tap.  Cozy up to a warm fireplace in the winter and watch the snowfall or enjoy one of the outside patios during the summer months. Enjoy live music Thursday thru Sunday by many local artists.

The winery has a large lunch and dinner menu as well as a gluten free menu.  If you are looking for place to host a private event, the winery has two private party rooms and an exclusive Wine Cave in the cellar for more intimate gatherings.  The winery offers many events throughout the year include monthly art classes, yoga, and charity events.

Laurello Vineyards is a boutique winery nestled in the Grand River Valley of Geneva, Ohio. Our winery is a place for old friends to gather and new friends to meet in a relaxed, cordial atmosphere. We strive to provide hand crafted award winning wines, paired with homemade food.

Named in honor of the Laurello Family, Laurello Vineyards is derived from the Italian word meaning “laurel tree”. As the tradition goes, Olympians were honored by their peers and crowned with laurel wreaths. In that same spirit, the Laurello family pays homage to their guests and visitors by inviting them to share in the authentic Laurello wine experience. “The secret to a good life is passion, hard work and love of family”.
